Throwback Thursday, in 1976! Approximately 500 persons attended the Itasca County Historical Society is June 5th, Grand opening of its bicentennial display in Central School at about 200 were present for the outdoor ceremonies. Grand Rapids Councilwoman Carolyn Kastner left is with Dr. and. Mrs. C. E. Sisler and Mrs. Arthur Otis, longtime county residents. Bonnet and costumes are days gone by worn by many present added to the festivities.

Throwback Thursday, in 1976! Robert E. Wood, the California watercolorist of international renown, who is presently in Grand Rapids conducting workshops, is exhibiting a number of paintings which the public is invited to view free of charge at the Grand Rapids Public Library through June 18th. Admiring his work are Marilyn Bayerkohier Leff, Conny Drakenberg and Lowell Bayerkohier, and the two-year-old son, Barrett. Bayerkohier, an art instructor in the Staples High School, and Mrs. Drakenberg at the New London, are among the 30 members of one of Wood's classes. The Itasca Art Association sponsor for Mr. Wood's stay here also extends an invitation to meet the artist at a dinner event Thursday, June 15th at the Holiday Inn. The event includes a 5:30 pm social hour, 30 pm dinner, and an 8 pm demonstration by Mr. Wood, offered free of charge, the courtesy of the Blandin Foundation.

Murphy School presented a playlet, "The Months and the Bicentennial Years" which they had written in performances for other students of the school and for their parents.
