Because I kept so much stuff from my childhood, it always amazes me when I have a moment of “whatever happened to that” 🙂

Hanging on the wall of my DoddsRecordShop is the Teisco Del Rey solid body guitar I got for my 8th birthday. For many of my adult years I couldn’t remember what happened to the matching Checkmate amplifier. One day while showing off the Teisco Tulip guitar, my friend Bobby McGee said “do you want your amp back?” Wait wait…What? Why… how…where…when?
Turns out my Mom sold it in one of her many garage sales and Bob bought it!
He returned it exactly as I remember, wax down the front from sitting a burning candle on top!
While displaying it in the shop I saw on the back it reads “3 watts” HA!
I have vivid memories of my bedroom door flying open and my Dad yelling “turn that damn thing down!”
Yeah… 3 watts… probably set at volume 6 or 7… Turn it DOWN 🙂

This is COOL
A woman who grew up in Royal Oak shared stories and memorabilia from Grande Ballroom.
When she was 14 years old she snuck away with her boyfriend and attended a few shows at Detroit’s Grande Ballroom. She saw Yardbirds, Cream, MC5, B.B. King, and more!
She gifted me a stack of flyer/handbills she kept the past 55 years.

Happy Fathers Day
This bottle was my dad Homer’s last ‘Old Grand Dad’
My memory is that he would get a new bottle each year and take a nip off it every so often, timing out until he was gifted another 🙂
And growing up, the figurine was on my parent’s living room wall shelf… set very high out of reach to keep me from touching it!

Funny that the booze was always bottom shelf unlocked easy access and I never went near it, but I climbed on the back of the couch and balanced on a stack of pillows to get to that figurine 🙂
