Just a day at your local museum! We found some mold on our tax books. Ann has removed them from the shelf, cleaned them (and the shelf) carefully and we will put them back. We have checked our humidity levels and made a plan of action to avoid anymore mold growth. This time of year, when the heat isn’t needed, but neither is the air conditioning, is a great time for spikes in humidity. Check on your important items if their location might have fluctuations in temperature. In this picture Ann is checking and cleaning books from a nearby shelf. Stopping mold before it spreads is crucial to protecting your collection.

An electrolysis graduation certificate was dropped off today. Edna C. Pahl completed the course through the Kree Institute in Miami, Florida in March, 1974. The donor says the framed degree was found in the attic of their home and has no other information. We have questions:
Who Is Edna Pahl? We don’t find a local family with that name in our filing system.
Why was her graduation certificate from 1974 tucked into an attic in Glenwood?
Can we establish a connection between Edna Pahl and Pope County?
Did Edna work at a local beauty salon?
