Please read our full description for event schedules and contact information. The Historic and Scenic Preservation Committee is a committee that this made up of no more than twenty members who serve a five year term and are appointed by the Gloucester Township Council. The purpose of the committee is to survey the Township of Gloucester for the preparation of a program for the identification, acqu

isition, preservation and maintenance of historic and scenic sites and landmarks. It also seeks the voluntary advice of historians, historical societies, architects and other persons who would have the knowledge and expertise in carrying out the functions of the Committee. The Committee gives tours of the 1756 Gabreil Daveis Tavern Museum House free of charge to the public.

Glendora Elementary School’s second graders walked to the 1756 Gabreil Daveis Tavern Museum House for a field trip today!!! Fun was had by all!! Activities included tours of the museum, colonial games, colonial chores, and a walk to the creek to see how travelers came by boat in the 1700s.

The Gloucester Township Historic and Scenic Preservation Committee is a volunteer organization dedicated to preserving and educating the history of Gloucester Township. If you live in the township and like history, please consider volunteering or possibly becoming a member. The committee meets once a month and participates in several community events throughout the year including: Tours of the historic Gabreil Daveis Tavern house, Gloucester Township Day, The South Jersey History Fair, the Pumpkin Festival, and paranormal events at the Gabreil Daveis Tavern.
