Artist Spotlight: Ava Der-Derian Manukyan
Ava Der-Derian Manukyan is a contemporary artist whose multidisciplinary practice draws upon more than three decades of experience in fine art, jewelry, and fashion accessories design.
Educated at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Yerevan, Armenia, Manukyan relocated to Los Angeles following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. She established a distinguished career in design while continuing to develop her artistic practice.
Her work explores the intersection of fine art, material, and personal experience, examining themes of memory, human connection, identity, and the unseen emotional and psychological dimensions of life.
Working across two- and three-dimensional forms, Manukyan uses continuous, overlapping lines that shift between abstraction and figuration. Textile, paper, metallic pigment, gold leaf, and other materials become both surface and structure, giving her work a distinctive sense of depth and dimension.
Drawing on her background in design, her practice combines meticulous craftsmanship with intuitive expression. Each piece invites viewers to look beyond the surface and discover the stories, emotions, and connections woven into her work.

Dey Young began her sculpting career in 1977 at Scripps College in Claremont, California, studying under renowned sculptor Aldo Casanova. She continued developing her craft through experiences with artisans throughout the United States and later traveled to Italy, where she worked with Italian teachers in Carrara Marble. Largely self-taught in anatomy, Dey considers her understanding of the human form a natural gift. Her work has received recognition from the Los Angeles County Museum and the National Sculpture Society, and she has exhibited in galleries throughout California and New Mexico and in a few museums in Beijing and Vietnam. Working in stone, terra cotta, bronze, and acrylic, her sculptures explore movement, emotion, and the beauty of the human form. In addition to her accomplishments as a visual artist, Dey has enjoyed a career in film, television and theater. She currently resides in Los Angeles.

Experience Dey Young’s sculpture in person at Litavie Art Gallery.

Artist Spotlight: Artavazd Talalyan
We are thrilled to spotlight Artavazd Talalyan, one of the featured artists in our upcoming exhibition, Dreamscape. Artavazd’s work stands out for its unique blend of classical training and pure, poetic imagination. In his paintings, he takes elegant, realistically rendered human figures and places them inside whimsical, impossible settings that defy real-world logic.
Whether it is a woman gracefully relaxing on a vintage high-wheel bicycle or a figure drifting through a soft, hazy cityscape, Artavazd captures a sense of quiet nostalgia and romance. His masterful use of a warm, golden color palette and soft, textured brushstrokes makes each canvas feel less like a physical place and more like a beautiful, fading memory.
Step into his captivating dreamscapes on opening night and experience the timeless wonder of his art in person.
