I’ve been thinking lately about what makes an artist’s work feel recognizable.
My paintings don’t all use the same technique, and they don’t all have the same subject.
Some come from mythology. Some from the Arizona desert. Some from memory, birds, women, flowers, or places .
For a while, I wondered whether that made the work feel too different.
But when I look at everything together, I keep seeing the same things return: light, symbolism, memory, quiet strength, and transformation.
Maybe consistency doesn’t always mean repeating the same look.
Maybe it lives deeper in the way an artist sees the world.

15 years married today. ❤️
According to Panos, I’ve been married to a saint all this time. 😂
And apparently to a ballet dancer too. 😄
After 15 years, he is still the person I want beside me for the journey.
We’ve shared so many ordinary days, road trips, changes, laughter, flowers, plans, and little moments that became some of my favorite memories.
Happy anniversary to us. ❤️

One of my favorite studio smells is probably not what you would expect.
Orange-peel thinner.
The moment I pour it into the container, I immediately want to start painting.
And somehow, the smell takes me back to Greece.
I love how memory works. We can forget details and conversations, but one smell can suddenly bring back an entire place.

Is there a smell that instantly brings back a memory for you?

This owl began as one of three paintings I was working on together.
They shared the same subject and process, but somewhere along the way, this one started becoming its own character.
That is part of what keeps painting interesting for me.
I may begin with the plan, but I don’t always get the final word. Sometimes the painting has its own ideas.

For a while, I wondered if that made the work feel too different.
But when I look at everything together, I keep seeing the same things return: quiet strength, light, symbolism, memory, transformation, and story.
Maybe an artist’s voice doesn’t have to live in one technique.
Maybe it can live in the way they see the world.
