ARTIST SPOTLIGHT!! 🔦 Today we’re spotlighting Kimberly Erickson! See her work on our website or in person at the gallery 🎨

Northern Wisconsin based abstract painter, Kimberly Erickson, has been creating alcohol ink on aluminum paintings since 2015. Her unique paintings sometimes have a landscape or natural feel, as she draws inspiration from her rural surroundings in Dunbar. She is especially drawn to water, which is evident in her flowy style in many of her pieces. Kimberly’s paintings are almost luminescent with rich, vibrant colors as light influences the depth of color. Her artwork transitioned from one-of-a-kind clocks, where she inked the aluminum faces, to paintings that she showcases in Midwest galleries. Erickson graduated with a BS in art from UW La Crosse.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT!!🔦 Today we’re spotlighting Jennifer Gould! See her work in the gallery or on our website!

My work is highly influenced by nature and the landscape around me, both outside and within myself. Organic forms enthrall me because of their inherent rhythm: the sky, the clouds, trees, twigs, leaves, water, insects, birds, the wind and air — anything wild. Leaves, especially, are a constant theme in my work.

My personal life, with its daily ups and downs, seems to follow that rhythm closely. I translate what I see and feel into textiles, usually by collaging many different types of fabric together. I use everything from cheesecloth, to knits, to silk sheers to mundane scraps to create an ambience evoking an environment, whether it is outside in the natural world or my interior life.

Using surface design techniques such as dyeing, discharging, deconstructed screen printing, photo transfer, painting, printing, resisting, felting, weaving, shibori stitching with indigo dyeing, embroidery and freeform machine stitching, creates fabrics of depth and emotion. Multiple layers create atmosphere and perspective. Stitching brings attention to wind direction or personal views.

My work tends to be small which emphasizes details and allows for intimate viewing. After a lifetime of working with textiles, the fascination and delight in each piece of cloth still excites me every day of their inherent rhythm: the sky, the clouds, trees, twigs, leaves, water, insects, birds, the wind and air — anything wild. Leaves, especially, are a constant theme in my work.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT!! 🔦 Today we are spotlighting Sharon Will! See her work in the gallery or visit our website 🎨

The commercial art field laid the foundation for Sharon’s study of painting. Beginning in oil, then followed by decades of working exclusively in pastel, she now paints in both mediums, with an emphasis on plein air painting. Landscapes, still lives and figures provide the needed variety, yet she is consistently drawn back to the landscape for her major inspiration. Over forty-five years of painting have won Sharon numerous National Awards including the IAPS Prix de Pastel. For her pastel achievements, she has been inducted into the Master’s Circle of the International Association of Pastel Societies and is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of the West Coast. In addition to painting, Sharon runs a custom framing business from her home/studio. She and her husband can be found exploring the countryside in their camper, painting and photographing along the way, with their golden retriever. ARTIST SPOTLIGHT!! 🔦 Today we’re spotlighting Loni Wiedemann! See her work in the gallery or on our website!

Loni Wiedemann is a ceramic artist, creating functional pottery that celebrates the quiet rituals of everyday life. Working primarily on the wheel, her pieces are designed to be held, used, and lived with — objects that bring intention and beauty to ordinary moments.

Her work explores the balance between refinement and spontaneity. Soft throwing lines, subtle surface variations, and tactile finishes reveal the presence of the maker while honoring the natural character of clay and fire. Each form evolves through a thoughtful process of throwing, trimming, and glazing, resulting in pieces that feel both grounded and personal.

Rooted in the tradition of funcitonal ceramics, Loni believes that handmade objects carry emotional weight. A morning cup, a serving bowl shared at the table, or a simplet plate used daily becomes part fo a larger story of connection, nourishment, and care.

She creates pottery meant to not only be admired but to become part of daily rhythms - durable, comfortable, and quietly expressive forms that elevate use into experience.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT!! 🔦 Today we’re spotlighting Sally Wille! See her work in the gallery or on our website 🎨

Sally was born in Beloit, Wisconsin and moved to Winnetka, IL, a suburb of Chicago when she was seven years old. Growing up on the shores of lake Michigan and spending summers at camp in Michigan on an inland lake gave her a deep appreciation for nature, the outdoors and its unending landscape. Her interest in painting was cultivated during high school with class work, and continued while enrolled at The Art Institute of Chicago during summers. Sally continued her painting practice in college at The University of Arizona completing her BFA degree. Today, Sally paints with watercolor and gouache and cherishes the connection she has with nature and the outdoors. She continually is evolving as an artist. Her abstracted landscapes, use broad swaths of color and many times non representational colors and shapes. Sally paints in her studio in Winnetka and in her summer studio in Northern Michigan. At times she paints en plain air. She has participated in both group shows and solo shows. She is an active member of three art centers and is a member of The Leelanau Women Artists, and Art Makers North.
