HHM Shenandoah Project The careful restoration/conservation of the F.V Shenandoah is being undertaken at HHM by a volunteer crew and a lead shipwright/preservation specialist.

The 65-foot purse seiner, Shenandoah, was donated to the Harbor History Museum in 2000. The fishing vessel was owned by Tony Janovich, who donated it to the Museum shortly after his retirement. Tony spent 58 years in the commercial fishing industry. The Shenandoah is on display in the Jim and Carolyn Milgard Maritime Gallery and is being restored on-site by community volunteers. Restoration is a

public process and Museum visitors have the opportunity to interact directly with the restoration crew as they work on the vessel to learn more about classic wooden boat-building techniques. After restoration, visitors will be able to explore the deck and pilothouse of the Shenandoah.

3 years ago today. Thunderbird No.1 slid down the ways of the Gig Harbor Boatshop. (The old Eddon Boatyard) where she had been built 65years earlier. After a fun fall of sailing she now rests in comfort in the new Maritime gallery. Learn the time-honored skill of salty sailors everywhere in this hands-on splicing workshop!

Create a durable splice to be used on your boat, your kayak, as a dog leash, or any other project where a spliced line could come in handy.

Each participant will leave the workshop with their very own spliced line.
