🌱One month from today, join us in Ms. Hettie’s Garden for Planted Through History: A Conversation with Gayle the Gardener.

On Saturday, September 26th at 3 p.m., Ms. Gayle will lead visitors on a stroll through the garden while discussing the herbs, plants, and vegetables Hettie Shriver might have grown in the 1860s.

As an added bonus, each participant will take home a plant from the Shriver House to grow in their own garden.

Come learn about the plants of the past and take a little piece of history home with you!

Additional details in the comments.

A little refresh at the Shriver House...

Our new rugs are now in place, and we are loving how they look in the parlor!

Taking care of a historic home is a lot of work and requires ongoing support from people who believe Gettysburg stories, like the Shrivers' story, are worth preserving.

It is always an honor to welcome guests from throughout the United States...and the world! 🌏

Most recently, we were thrilled to welcome Chris, his daughters Nyla and Scarlett, and his mom Julie all the way from Australia.

Thank you for visiting the Shriver House Museum!

It's hard to believe that this year is the 30th anniversary of the Shriver House Museum!

As we celebrate this big milestone, we thought we'd share some photos of the extensive restoration undertaken by the Gudmestads when they purchased the property in the mid-1990s.

There’s never a dull moment at the Shriver House! 🦇

Today, we had a rather flighty visitor make an unexpected appearance: a bat!

Not to worry, though. Ms. Gayle handled the situation with ease and got our little visitor safely on its way.

You just never know what you’ll find at the Shriver House!
