Come see "Sacrifice on Seminary Ridge," a new exhibit presented by Military Images and sponsored by Fleischer's Auctions, featuring more than two dozen crowd-sourced Civil War images of patients, physicians, and attendants who received care and offered treatment at the Seminary Hospital. The exhibit is open now through Sunday, December 6.

SACRIFICE ON SEMINARY RIDGE EXHIBIT IS OPEN.—
Heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in last night's opening of Sacrifice on Seminary Ridge. Registration for the event maxed out and we had a full house for the event!

I am grateful to Paul Russinoff, a Military Images magazine senior editor who had the vision, to the amazing team at the Seminary Ridge Museum, especially Codie Eash, Kaleb Kusmierczyk, Judy Morley, and Rob Williams, and Kevin Canberg of Fleischer's Auctions, sponsor of the event.

The exhibit, featuring prints of wartime portraits of 25 patients, surgeons and nurses who were in the Seminary during and in the immediate aftermath of the Battle of Gettysburg, is fueled by the generosity and passion of the collecting community: Chuck Joyce, Jeff Kowalski, Scott Hann, Scott Hilts, Jason and Mark Krausz, Paul Loane, Faye and Ed Max, Robert May, Ronn Palm, Jim Rivest, Brian White. It could not have happened without them.

The exhibit also features images from the Liljenquist Family Collection at the Library of Congress and the Adams County Historical Society.

A wonderful, memorable opening!

The exhibit runs through December 6, 2026.

Thanks to the George Tyler Moore Center for the Study of the Civil War at Shepherd University for hosting Codie on Thursday evening, and to those who attended!

Thank you to Codie Eash from Seminary Ridge Museum for an informative and engaging presentation tonight on “The Summer of 1869: Gettysburg’s First Blue-Gray Reunion.” He offered insight on the gathering of Union and Confederate veterans just a few years after the Civil War, exploring the lasting impact on how the battle is remembered. We appreciate Codie sharing his knowledge and everyone who joined us!

Codie Eash (our Director of Education and Interpretation) and Paul Russinoff (MI Senior Editor and Seminary Ridge board member) joined MI's Ron Coddington and Evan Phifer to discuss our upcoming collaborative special exhibit, "Sacrifice on Seminary Ridge." Our cover story explores a familiar Gettysburg image by Mathew Brady, and portraits of the surgeons, patients, and nurses who were there during and after the battle.
