Here are some upcoming events at our sites!

💪 Volunteer Work Day on June 6 starting at 8am where the whole family can volunteer their time for the National Parks at Gettysburg.

🏡 Living History at George Spangler Farm & Field Hospital on June 12 and 13 with encampments and demonstrations on the farm's property.

💥 An evening program at George Spangler Farm & Field Hospital on June 19 at 6pm featuring a talk on the 1862 Confederate invasion of New Mexico.

☕ Coffee with a Historian at the Gettysburg Lincoln Railroad Station on June 20 at 9am for the opportunity to enjoy a cup of coffee and a conversation with a historian.

Did you know Dwight D. Eisenhower found relaxation through painting? 🎨

Unlike many artists, Eisenhower didn’t begin painting until he was nearly 60 years old. While working closely with Winston Churchill during World War II, Churchill, an avid painter himself, encouraged Ike to take up a hobby. Eisenhower first picked up a paintbrush in 1948 while serving as president of Columbia University, and he continued painting throughout his presidency. In his Gettysburg home, Ike’s favorite place to paint was the sun porch, where he could enjoy natural light, take in views of the battlefield, and unwind at home. Today, visitors can tour the Eisenhower home and view some of his paintings on display.

It's the monument to the 83rd New York Infantry! The unit was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Moesch. This monument is on Doubleday Avenue near the Oak Ridge tower.
