9/25 Dolly Parton Day!

Ok…
Hear me out.
Seeing some of your comments, let me spell it out for you.
Sept is the 9th month.
25th date is well… the 25th
The date 9/25 breaks down to “nine to five” and that my friends is a smash hit for Dolly Parton.

Saint Dolly

Dolly Parton means so much to so many people, but for our family, she became a true beacon of light during our darkest time. In 2016, we lost our home to the wildfires. We drove away with nothing but the clothes on our backs, our dog, and our cars. That was it.

Dolly immediately created the My People Fund, starting with a telethon that raised over $9 million. Thanks to that money, every family who lost everything received $1,000 a month for six months. No mountains of paperwork, no interrogation, no hassle—just pure kindness and empathy. Warm, open hearts welcomed us to the Pigeon Forge Convention Center every month to pick up our check. The love and concern we felt was beyond heartwarming.

On the sixth and final month, a huge surprise was waiting for us. You could see it on the faces of the people walking out—they all had this knowing, tearful smile, thrilled about the surprise they’d just received but not wanting to spoil it for the rest of us. The mood was lighter, brighter, happier. When we stepped up, a volunteer confirmed our names and, with the biggest smile you've ever seen, handed us a $5,000 check instead of the $1,000 we expected.

Here’s the thing: it was never just about the money. It was about the way Dolly Parton made a promise, kept her word, and then went above and beyond. While other organizations and agencies made promises tied up in red tape, conditions, and endless waiting, Saint Dolly just stepped up to help Her People.

I’ll forever be proud and grateful to be someone touched by her massive heart. Every day, I try to follow her example—whether it’s a simple hello, a kind word, or helping out wherever we can.

Thank you, Dolly, for living such a bright, sparkling life for all of us to follow. 🤍🖤🧂
