🤠 Western Legends: Pancho Villa 🤠

Few figures in Southwestern history are as well-known—or as controversial—as Pancho Villa. Born in Mexico in 1878, Villa became a revolutionary general and one of the most famous leaders of the Mexican Revolution. His actions shaped the history of both Mexico and the American Southwest, making him a legendary figure of the early 20th century.

Did you know you can see a piece of that history right here at the Coryell Museum? Our world-famous spur collection includes a pair of spurs belonging to Pancho Villa himself!

It's just one of the many fascinating artifacts on display that help bring history to life for our visitors, whether you're a fan of Texas history, the Old West, or legendary historical figures.

Whether you're a local looking for something to do during the hot part of the day or you're traveling through on a family road trip, make the museum an essential stop on the summer activity list! 🚗 From a soda fountain to a double-wall log jail, military history and more, there's something for everyone to learn and explore.

Admission is free for all ages, but donations help us continue to keep the museum open for everyone to enjoy!

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives protecting our freedom. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Here in Gatesville, we are proud of our community’s strong military history and the many veterans and service members who have called Coryell County home. At the Coryell Museum, we are honored to help preserve and share those stories for future generations!

We are pleased to report the museum is safe and secure after a false alarm incident occurred early this morning. Upon activation of our fire alarm, the fire department and police responded quickly and efficiently. Fortunately, the incident was determined to be a false alarm. We appreciate the timely response from the Gatesville Fire and Police Departments.🙏
