🚧💗 GCM on the Move: This Week's Update!

What a difference a week makes!

Exhibits are finding their new spots, spaces are starting to take shape, and we're getting closer to welcoming families to the Discovery Pyramid at Moody Gardens!

And here's some exciting news for our campers...

YES! We're still having camps! 🙌

We're preparing an event space for camps, programs, and plenty of opportunities to learn through play.

There's still a lot to do, but we're excited to bring you along for the journey!

1️⃣ RESERVE YOUR TILE! Secure your $50 tile through Zeffy before they're gone.

2️⃣ GET CREATIVE! When you're ready, stop by Clay Cup Studios at 2219 Postoffice Street in Galveston to decorate your tile. They'll have the paints, stencils, and supplies you need!

Yesterday was filled with memories. Today, we're making BIG moves!

Exhibits are coming down, rooms are emptying, and pieces of the Galveston Children's Museum are already making their way to Moody Gardens' Discovery Pyramid!

We're excited about what's ahead, but there's still a lot of work to do. And we'd love your help!

Today was a bittersweet day at the Galveston Children's Museum.

We welcomed our last visitors at Moody Mansion, shared a lot of memories, and felt all the emotions that come with closing a chapter that's meant so much to our team and community.

But even as we say goodbye to this space, the work of preparing for what's next is already underway.

Our Sea Camp - Texas A&M University Galveston Campus Sea Aggies are taking our beloved boat, which has been in the same spot for more than a decade, to give it some much-deserved attention before its next adventure. 🚤

We're so grateful for the people who continue to show up for GCM, especially during this transition.

Our doors will be closed to the public for a few weeks, but we'll be sharing the work happening behind the scenes as we prepare to take over the 2nd floor of Moody Gardens' Discovery Pyramid.

Thank you for being part of this chapter and for helping us build the next one. 💗

Today (Oct 11th) is our final day at Moody Mansion, and we couldn't leave without saying THANK YOU to the families, friends, and community who have made this place so special.

We're packing up the play and getting ready for our next adventure at Moody Gardens Discovery Pyramid! 💗

We'll be closed for a few weeks while we get everything ready.

💙 Before there were thousands of memories, there was a dream.

As we prepare for our final weekend at Moody Mansion, we're taking a little trip down memory lane. 🥹

These photos are from the early days of the Galveston Children's Museum, when exhibits were being built and a community came together to create something special for Galveston's children.

Over the years, little hands have built, painted, explored, and discovered within these walls. We've watched children grow up and families make memories that will last a lifetime.

Now, we're getting ready for our next chapter at Moody Gardens! 💗

We’re in that strange and exciting moment where we’re saying goodbye to a space filled with more than a decade of GCM memories while getting ready to create something new.

Take a FAST walk through the Discovery Pyramid at Moody Gardens, the home of GCM’s next phase!

There’s a lot of work happening behind the scenes, and soon this space will start looking a whole lot more like the Galveston Children’s Museum. 💙

But we aren’t done here yet!

1. Purchase a tile (or several) for $50 each
2. Take your receipt and head to Clay Cup Studios to make it completely your own (there are so many cool options)

Paint your family name, a favorite Galveston memory, something your child loves, or simply let their imagination take over. ❤️

3. Once the tiles are finished, they’ll come together as part of a permanent art installation at the Galveston Children's Museum.

As we prepare for our next phase, we love the idea that the families who have helped make GCM what it is can literally leave their mark on what comes next.
