We bid a sad and grateful farewell to Judy Greek. She and her husband, Ron, have been faithful members of the Carl Sandburg Historic Site Association since moving to Galesburg in 2012. Judy was well-known for sharing her delicious handmade treats for our monthly Second Sunday Sandburg Songbag receptions. Our hearts are broken. Judy had been so brave and resilient through her cancer treatments this past year, but she was determined to continue to share her handmade treats for our Songbag Concerts. Visiting with Judy at these events was always a delight and a blessing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ron & Judy's family at her passing. Judy will be dearly missed.

View Mrs. Judith A. "Judy Degnan" Greek's obituary, send flowers and sign the guestbook.

Carl Sandburg would be extremely humbled as a war veteran being a back drop statue giving the C Battery 2/123 FA a family gathering ceremony to that military clan because Kyle Wehrley was a navigator upon navigators sacrificed selfless dignity leading a convoy respectfully naming a stretch of Route 150 today at the town square. Sandburg being memorized struck a chord in silence this afternoon.

Please join us for the next Sandburg Songbag Concert on September 13, 2026, with Nicole Montgomery! Nicole is a Midwestern singer-songwriter and live performer based in Peoria, Illinois. She is known for her acoustic foundation and a purple electric guitar that she enjoys weaving into her sets. Her music blends folk and pop and she enjoys writing lyrics with both teeth and humor.

Fans of Brandi Carlisle, Alanis Morisette and Ani DiFranco will recognize the influence of these musical giants on Nicole’s songwriting. Her first album, “War Stories”, out September 4th, is an unflinching look at the complexity of relationships with others and with herself, and an examination of the fact that we are often taught to keep the difficult parts quiet at a great cost to ourselves. The set list at the September Songbag concert will include all the songs from the album, many of the stories behind the songs, as well as a slate of “deep cuts” that might belong on a future album.
