Thank you Curt Lunchick, President of the
Fuquay-Varina Garden Club and a scout master of our town.
Curt has done yeoman duty in cleaning up some of the over
growth and debris in the Ashworth Historic Park. He also was
there with the Scout Troop 320 and Scout Masters Phil Mann and Eddie Wilson.

MOMENTS FROM THE PAST.
52. In 1991, the General Assembly removed Driver’s Education from the schools as too costly. Prior to that students were allowed to leave Physical Education class for 30 hours instruction and 6 hours driving and teacher positions were funded for the classes.

53. March 15-17, 1991, The Fuquay High Key Club was awarded the First Place Annual Achievement Award at State Convention . Our Marshall Wortham received the Outstanding Presidential Award.

again. All in 95 degree hear! What a gift!

First Friday report:
The winners of the Scavenger Hunt were drawn by FVDA today. The Holland Family and Charlotte Isenhour were winners of $25
prize dollars. While no one found a perfect hunt, there were six who got all but one search correct.

We hope it was fun! The Historic Recognition speakers were all excellent and we had fun hearing about these wonderful civic groups and their service to Fuquay.

MOMENTS FROM THE PAST
50. On May 21, 2010, the senior class was served lunch, signed yearbooks, relaxed and played softball at the athletic field for Senior Field Day. This is a TRADITION rom 1975-76.

51. In 1991, the staff initiated Academic Boosters at FVHS. School letters were awarded to 100 students with 3.5 grade averages or better over two semesters. A Lamp of Learning was provided for those students who had earned a letter for Athletics.

MOMENTS FROM THE PAST
48. Hurricane Fran took down the Booster sign and damaged the scoreboard on her visit Sept 4-5, 1996. Schools were closed until Thursday of the next week for recovery in Wake County and to***co sales closed a month early as so much crop was lost.

49. April 7, 2010, The PTSA sponsored Rock and Shop to raise funds. Local vendors and raffles along with music by student groups named “Among the Divided” and “2 Digh 4” entertained the crowd.

First Friday Event RECAP: good participation from the public!
The docents report lots of interest in the museums and the scavenger hunt. We thank the FVDA for their part of the event at
the Ashworth Park!. The drawing will take place on Monday!
The program was most interesting and we thank all the persons who came to speak. As pictures are available , we will share them. The speeches will be preserved in our archives.
