Pine Gap Woodworks

Pine Gap Woodworks We create unique designs using the woodcraft creative process intarsia. The only staining may be on the dowel rods which are used for eyes or buttons.

Intarsia involves taking a pattern or picture, dividing it into pieces – similar to a puzzle – placing these pieces onto wood, then each piece is cut out. Different varieties of native and exotic woods are used to gain the desired effect in the finished product. The type of wood being used is determined by its color and grain, which eliminates the need for staining or painting. We use a band saw a

nd scroll saw to cut the pieces, then use a Dremel or drum sander to shape and sand the pieces. After fitting the pieces together, they are placed on a hard board and the back is cut out. The finished pieces are coated with Tung Oil, polished, and glued on the hard board backing.
