We at the Nebraska Railroad Museum mourn along with the rest of the Railroad community. At the loss of two railroad workers. It sad us to share this with you guys.

Yesterday in Pecos, Texas, a Union Pacific freight train collided with an oversized tractor-trailer load stuck on a railroad crossing. As a result of the accident, two rail workers lost their lives.

Every railroad crossing in the United States has one of these Emergency Notification System (ENS) blue signs that has information on that specific railroad crossing.

If a vehicle gets stuck on a railroad crossing, exit the vehicle immediately, move away from the tracks and call the phone number on the ENS blue sign to inform the railroad of the obstructed railroad crossing number. Then, if needed, call 911.

Our thoughts are with the victims and their families impacted by this accident.

Nebraska Railroad Museum Releases Business Plan to Public.
Success being built on transparency.

Nebraska City, NE, November 21, 2022: The Nebraska Railroad Museum has publicly published its current business plan. The financial projections have been redacted in the public domain. A link to view or download the document is provided below as well on our page and website. The museum is transparent in our dealings. We invite anyone interested in the museum to look at our plans to see how and what we want to do. As the museum transitions to it new home this plan will be updated or revised as needed. Updated copies will be released as warranted.

PRESS RELEASE - - - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.

The Nebraska Railroad Museum is sadden to learn of the passing of a former 21st Century Museum President Dr. Rudolph “Rudy” Daniels.

Dr. Daniels receive his doctorate from Penn State University in 1971 and was a formidable wealth on knowledge of the railroads’ history. Rudy, as friends called him, published 5 books, including “Trains Across the Continent” which is a complete history of North American railroads. Bit has long been considered the official documentation of our Nation’s railroad story. He also penned books more local such as “Sioux City Railroads.” His gift of knowledge was unceasing and he had just completed his last book “The Great Railroad War.”
His celebration of life was held today in Sioux City, Iowa. He will be missed by many, including the Nebraska Railroad Museum.
