The Christy Building is an old building with a bad roof, no insurance, and no tenants. It is owned by a corporation with no assets and no way of generating revenue. If the Christy Building remains vacant, it is likely that this historic structure will be lost to demolition. Costs, including back taxes and demolition, will be shifted to the Fremont taxpayers. al problems posed by an old vacant building is the loss of another symbol of Fremont’s past prosperity. Each time an historic building is demolished, a part of Fremont’s culture is lost. Fremont’s identity is founded upon a history of prosperity and grandeur – an identity of which all members of our community should be proud.
