About the CCGS

We are located in beautiful Chautauqua County, New York. Chautauqua County is the most western county of New York State and is bordered on the south and west by the state of Pennsylvania, to the north by Lake Erie and to the east by the county of Cattaraugus. Immigrants that came up the Hudson from the Port of New York. They found themselves stranded without money, food, or shelter. Over 7500 travelers were aided by the good people of Chautauqua County between 1850 and 1855. And because of this we are considered "Gateway to the West."

MISSION STATEMENT 1. To promote, aid and encourage genealogical research. 2. To identify, record and make available genealogical records relating to Chautauqua County and to publish records in various forms. 3. To hold meetings and conduct seminars to further genealogical knowledge.
