Happy Juneteenth! Great to see this new wayside installed in Downtown Frederick to commemorate the Emancipation Building on All Saints Street. Many of the Emancipation celebrations were visible from Rose Hill as parades traveled along N Market St. Perhaps some of the emancipated families such as Mary Nichols and her children who were still working and living at Rose Hill post Maryland's Nov 1 1864 emancipation date witnessed or partook in some of these celebrations.

This week is National Volunteer Appreciation Week and Rose Hill is lucky to have many volunteers and groups that contribute to our events and programs year round! Many of our volunteer efforts are organized through our Museum Council. Whether its planting and maintaining our natural dye garden, dressing up as characters for our Trick or Treat event, reenacting for our Living History events, or raising money for the preservation of our collection-this small but mighty group does it all! If you're interested in volunteering your time with our Museum Council-please reach out!
