Maintaining graves and the cemeteries that contain them is important. Maintaining graves honors the dead and preserves local history. It shows respect for the families and protects historical data for genealogy. Active community member, John Murray, is seeking volunteers to assist with the continued clean up at Franklin City Cemetery located in Franklin, Georgia. There are graves dating back over 200 years located at Franklin City Cemetery. John would additionally like to share his learned knowledge on the proper way to clean and restore headstones using the proper products. If interested in assisting with this continued project, please contact John Murray at (678) 621-9165. John is an active member of the Heard County Historical Society and serves on the Heard County Historic Preservation Commission.
