Frost's farmhouse is now in the air! This is an unusual moment in the history of the property, and a powerful reminder that preserving historic places sometimes requires dramatic measures.
You are mostly seeing the careful work of Geddes Building Movers, Inc. and Ward Excavation here. But before they could begin, we had to call in the experts to make that possible. We are very grateful to Hampshire Concrete Cutting for cutting through our 4' x 8' chimney at the base and offering a very generous discount on their service. Thank you so much, Vin!
Also tethering the house to the earth were the electrical and plumbing lines (which, incidentally, were not present in Frost's day). We had M. Wills Electric disconnect the power from the house and set up a temporary pole in the yard, and Bettencourt Mechanical Solutions disconnect the plumbing and haul out the old equipment. And since we have no functional bathrooms, we have TP Toilets onsite, keeping a clean porta-potty! All of our service providers have been phenomenal, and we do not hesitate to recommend them.
It truly takes a village to steward these historic homes, and we are grateful to all who have made our work possible, especially LCHIP, Land and Community Heritage Investment Program, and the generous donors who have helped us meet their matching grant.
