Foxboro Community Museum Workshop #1 is this Thursday!!! There's 3 more this month if you can't make this one. Answers to some questions I've been getting -
Is this the only way to submit to the museum? Why a workshop vs. individual submissions?
- The workshops are how you submit to the museum! Since this is a community art project, it only makes sense to have the community come together and share their submissions with each other instead of doing it individually. The workshop will also help you write the placard to go along with what you'd like to submit. I'll collect your submission at the end and install it for the opening. If you can't make any of the workshops but would still like to submit, send me a message and we can work something out!
What do I bring & what happens at the workshop?
- Bring anything you'd like to contribute that shares the story of your time here. Think of it like a living time capsule. Feel free to bring more than one thing and work out which one you'd like to submit during the workshop. Maybe you grew up here and have saved old photographs, school projects, artifacts from buildings that aren't here anymore, or maybe you're newer here and have objects or photographs to represent more recent memories. It can be historic or personal or funny or anything you want it to be.
- During the workshop, we'll be sharing the objects and their stories in groups, writing about them, and finalizing the submission to the museum. It's fun, and there will be a lot of post-its.
Can kids come?
- YES! If they're younger/shy, your family can work as a group in the activities, but they're also welcome to work individually and bring their own objects if they want to.
