One of our new exhibitions, “Manifest”, features 22 different artists from the Jacmel Arts Center in Haiti and was curated by their past Executive Director, Lee Rainboth.
Lee Rainboth is a visual artist, curator, and arts administrator, who currently serves as the Executive Director of Fort Wayne Dance Collective.
Prior to moving to Fort Wayne, his arts administration work took him around the globe to work with diverse communities of African, Caribbean, and Indigenous North American artists. Most notably he spent 13 years living and working in Haiti where he served as the Executive Director of Jacmel Arts Center and Living Media International before that.
Now in the US, Lee continues to coordinate international opportunities for these Haitian artists to share their culture with a wider audience. He also maintains his personal studio space at Art05 where his art continues to be inspired by the communities and cultures that he has been privileged to be a part of.
Stay tuned for more about Manifest and the artists featured in it!

“My work explores disaster, memory and vulnerability through different mediums, ranging from printmaking to performance, to edible art and printed objects. I question the way we look at tragedy as well as the way we deal with its aftermath. We depend on our technology (planes, trains, automobiles) and easily forget that it is just as fallible as our bodies.
In our contemporary media driven culture, catastrophes, of all kinds, are trivialized by their frequent appearances across the spectrum of information media, especially as access to data is more widespread than ever before. We, as a society, have become desensitized to these events through constant exposure, unable to understand the serious consequences of our actions. Separated from the outside world by our screens, we create a culture of indifference as we learn to ignore tragedy, on all scales.
In Child’s Play, trains retrace their trajectories, continually in motion. History repeats itself. The loop mimics the obsessive nature with which we revisit traumatic events. We replay the incident in our minds. We ask the same questions over and over again: What happened? or Why? or How?”
Featured artwork: “Child’s Play”, Raluca Iancu, stop motion animation with linocuts and CNC-cut woodcuts, 3:30min. 3rd place juror award.
@raluca_iancu is currently an Assistant Professor in Art & Visual Culture, Printmaking, at Iowa State University (ISU). She earned her MFA in Studio Art, Printmaking, from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and her BFA in Printmaking from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Halifax, Canada.
Stop in to Artlink to see artwork by Raluca and 59 other contemporary printmakers exhibited in our 41st National Print Exhibition, juried by Ruth Lingen and on view April 1 - May 2, 2021. Also available to view and purchase from online through our website: artlinkfw.org

His images have been featured in some of the most prominent publications in America, including Time Magazine, Billboard, and New York Magazine. Meet Linda Tien, one of the amazing artists featured in our online only VOICES: Juried Exhibition.
“Making is a way to explore my identity and interior experience. Initially, my work focused on self-perception in terms of social expectations, pop culture and the reality of negotiating these external influences. Over the years, my work has evolved into an investigation of interstitial existence and transcending the boundaries of social constructs. I aim to prod at the emotional quality of identity and its multifarious ability to be restricting, liberating and everything in between. I have become increasingly interested in visceral relationships between the body, objects and materials, and what those connections might suggest. Using an array of traditional and found materials thoughtfully composed with the body, I intently and curiously explore identity through a process of creating and revisiting.”
Linda Tien is a Vietnamese-American visual artist from Fort Worth, TX. Linda has a background in metalsmithing and jewelry design, but she has always worked across media and formats including sculpture, performance, installation and video. She received her BFA in 2011 at Texas Tech University and her MFA in 2016 from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. In addition to her artistic practice, Linda also has many years of experience in curation and gallery work. She has curated for many galleries including the galleries at the Appalachian Center for Craft (Smithville, TN), The Fuller Projects (Bloomington, IN), the Columbus Museum of Art + Design (Columbus, IN) and now currently works as the Program Coordinator for the Grunwald Gallery of Art at Indiana University (Bloomington, IN). Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally including venues such as The Wylie House Museum, the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology Park, Westobou Gallery, Galerie Lewis, Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, Vanderbilt University, The Museum of Fine Art Houston and more.
