This is an aerial image of the Hemphill Smith Art Foundation Gateway Sculpture and grounds layout on Jefferson Blvd.

The site is the missing link between Electric Works, the River Greenway and Swinney Park. Pedestrians, cyclists and 100,000 motor vehicles a week will have close-up views of the sculpture.

Best of all, the city of Fort Wayne has agreed to install sidewalks, lighting and foundations for this monumental contribution to the city's Artscape.

Manufacturing has begun and installation is scheduled for Spring of 2025. Jody would be so excited.

Happy New Year from the Hemphill Smith Art Foundation.

Fabrication of the thirty foot steel sculpture known as Amaryllis has already begun. A film of it's construction, delivery, and installation is underway. Detailed drawings for the limestone monument for Historic West Central are nearly complete. The city of Fort Wayne is prepared to construct foundations, sidewalks, and lighting for installation in the Spring of 2025.

Sculptor Cary Shafer unveiled his computer plans for the 30ft gateway sculpture on W. Jefferson Blvd. to the Board of Directors of the Hemphill Smith Art Foundation, Inc.

Hard to believe it's been one year since the passing of Jody Hemphill Smith.

She lives on in the hearts and minds of artists, collectors and historic home lovers. The Foundation has raised more than $100,000 toward the gateway sculpture by Cary Shafer on Jefferson Blvd., which was inspired by one of her paintings.

Installation is scheduled for Spring of 2025.
We'll keep you posted on our progress.

Castle Gallery Fine Art has evolved into the Hemphill Smith Art Foundation. The Foundation is raising money to construct a thirty- foot gateway sculpture on the West Jefferson entrance to Fort Wayne.
