Thank you to Dr. Anna Holloway for sharing stories tonight from her new book, 'Be Sure to Wave'. The stories shared tonight were of situations Dr. Holloway and her husband experienced being a young in*******al couple while raising two boys. Dr. Holloway signed copies of her book afterwards. Copies can be purchased from Dr. Holloway or on Amazon.

Thank you also to those who came tonight and listened!

A big shoutout to Professor Preston Martin for a great presentation tonight on A.T. Walden.

We learned about the couragous life that Walden lived from birth and education in Fort Valley to earning his law degree from the University of Michigan and starting a law practice. Walden paused his practice to serve as an Army Captain (Judge Advocate) in WWI. Walden resumed his practice after the War and organized voters across Georgia to gain influence in support of civil rights. Addditionally Walden brought many civil rights cases first to trial that other famous Civil Rights attorneys continued arguing for. Many of these cases had important civil rights outcomes that were determined through appeals court.

Walden lived in Georgia at a time when change was slow however he remained persistent. Many recognize that Walden built the table so those younger than him could have a place to eat.

Walden is recognized locally with a road named after him on the campus of FVSU.

We thank everyone that came out and supported.

Happy Thanksgiving!
