So as far as time capsules go it might have been a bit anticlimactic ! Here are the few items that survived the 50 years in a decaying milk can 🙂
Ink pens , bicentennial buttons and bumper stickers , a bicentennial beer can ( they drank beer back in 1976 🤷🏼‍♀️ ! Glad they put that it there ! Note the pull top tab ! I collected a lot of those 😂
Lots of Newspapers . An ad for an electric typewriter ! Some papers survived , most did not . Note the price of meat and the same issues in the Middle East 😢. The article about the Xenia tornado was interesting and brought back memories .
I was 13 in 1976 . What I remember most about that year is leaving town during the Parade and trucking cross country with my brother Tom Reichert and our younger sister Regina to stay with my brother Fred and his wife Diane in Lemoore California . We stayed for a month . Loved it !
What do you remember about 1976 ?

I’ve had the pleasure to be a part of the Opera House Committee for 5 1/2 of the 6 years . It’s truly been a labor of love . I can hardly believe this day has come !
This gathering place will always hold a special place in my heart . My hope is that the community feels the same ! ❤️

The big day is finally here! 6 years ago a group of dedicated committee members sought out to restore the Fort Recovery Morvilius Opera House to its former glory with a hope and dream of making it a true community gathering space.

To say that this project took a village is an understatement. Many people from all over our community and in some cases…across the country…helped to make this project a reality with both their expertise, time, monetary and material donations, and their willingness to make sure we succeeded in our efforts. For that, we give our sincerest thank you.

Our committee over the years has also donated countless hours, time, money, expertise, blood, sweat, and yes even tears too…to get this multi-million dollar renovation to completion and we are excited and grateful to be able to share our vision with all of you today.

We hope that you can join us today from 5-7pm for our open house and we hope that your heart is moved by the beauty that echoes between these walls.💜
