LORD, THANK YOU……

Thank you for.......Our history……..those who served here in the War of 1812,.....and the ancestors who came before us to carve out a town that they would name after the original Fort.

Thank you for......Our people,…….those who create and man the displays, the volunteers, the sponsors, all of the town organizations, and the Fort Fest Committee- keep them in your hands as they return home

Thank you for.......Our Veterans……..those who gave all,……those who gave some,……and every First Responder and 9/11 hero……..we pray for their ability to cope with the continued struggles that they endure,

Thank you for the gift of.....small towns, where red, white, and blue still mean something,……..and where....even the “kids who are playing in the Bounce Houses STOP for the National Anthem”,

Where the flag still means something,……where patriotism still means something,………where U.S.A. still means something,……….where prayer still means something.

It’s a crazy world filled with people who hate,……hate you…..hate the Country,…….hate the Police,……..hate other people,

BUT……….. WE are STILL here, Lord.

Here in a SMALL TOWN,……we GET it. ALL OF THE GREATEST things come through you.

Because,……..you have gifted us with the greatest and bravest of heroes, some of whom we welcomed to Fort Jennings this weekend, and some we can only celebrate because they have already joined you.

Thank you for allowing us to share the best part of Fort Jennings with so many………our ability to come together as PATRIOTS.

As a result of this amazing weekend, I ask that,……hearts be healed,…….feelings be moved, and……..minds be educated and opened.

Thank you for your hand on this event and all future celebrations to follow,

In your name, Amen.

History doesn’t write itself, folks. It’s created from a masterplan that we could never know or understand. A million events had to happen, all in the exact right order to bring YOU AND I here……and……to bring this amazing thing called.....Fort Fest..... to a tiny, little town in Northwest Ohio.

I’m just glad that it worked out the way that it was supposed to.

And…….Nobody,…..nobody,……. does it better.

Great Job, Fort Jennings and Fort Fest Committee………

So,………Goodnight Fort Jennings, and goodnight to THE MOST UNIQUE FESTIVAL IN NORTHWEST OHIO……………

We’ll see you all back at FORT FEST 2024!!

Tell me that story again, Daddy…….you know the one…..about the magical place……

Once upon a time….there was a land filled with anger. They had forgotten what God had given them and what their ancestors had fought for. They spent their time dwelling on their own failures and ignoring their great successes. They ignored what united them and focused on what divided them.

The people of this land began to feel isolated and ignored.
In this land, there was a small town. This small town made it their mission that, once a year, they would come together to commemorate all of those brave souls who had saved the land in the past.

The little town would ignore race, religion, and political affiliation……and focus only on what united their land…..a common debt to Country and the men and women who have defended it.

When the commemoration came, they say the town grew by 100 fold that day.

The celebration there lasted three days, and there were tears, laughter, reflection, and healing.

Many came from throughout the land, yearning for the ability to show appreciation for all of those who had sacrificed to protect their great land in the past.

And then…..as fast as it appeared,……the magical town disappeared.

However, the many people who came…….were transformed.
They took back to their families, their friends, and their fellow Veterans, the emotions and healing that had occurred at this great event.

People’s lives changed on that great day.......they began to see what really mattered and appreciate the little things that they get to enjoy.

For every day that we live in comfort and peace, there is someone suffering, working, and fighting to see that it remains so.

So you see, my dear, even though this magical town appears only once a year,.......those who attend, are instilled with the magic created in that small town that weekend.

And, as such, it becomes their responsibility to use that magic to cast out all those who fight against their great land.

For only when the magic reaches ALL……
will there be a chance for wrongs to be righted, turmoil to become peace, shame to become pride, and disrespect to become admiration.

And…until then…..

The little town will sit…quietly………..

just waiting……
Waiting for the next opportunity to again become what this land needs so badly…..A PLACE TO BE…….AMERICAN.

…..I want to go there someday, Daddy……

My darling, you live there.

The waiting is over. Game on, Jennings.
