Tanya Horacek creates beautiful mosaic art pieces. Tanya and her husband have made Fort Collins their happy retirement home, near the mountains and their daughter in Denver.

Since retiring from academia, Tanya has enjoyed volunteering in the community, traveling, leading tours, and challenging her creative side. While leading a study-abroad class in Italy, she personally got hooked on drawing while encouraging her students to do the same.

Ten years ago, a friend taught her how to mosaic, and in 2020 she did her first large mosaic, a Tuscan countryside in her home. Many of her projects are traditional grouted mosaic pieces, but her most recent venture is hand cut glass, representing the wildflowers of Colorado. Some pieces are table-top frames and others are mounted on boxes, mirrors, or other interesting objects. She is also having some fun incorporating her acrostic poems into her art.

Today's Friendly Face is Beth Liggitt. Beth leads the New Artist committee and is part of the Gallery Design Team, and Website Committee. She is a jewelry and stained glass artist and teaches several amazing metalsmithing classes!

Beth is an interdisciplinary artist creating jewelry, mosaic, stained glass, sculpture, and anything else that catches her attention! As the daughter of an artist, creativity is in her blood. She started working with metal as a teenager, later incorporating glass and everything else into her practice. She is driven by the belief that art connects us. In addition to art, she creates spaces for community--sharing her creative process in hands-on workshops.

Thank you for all you do for the Moose, Beth! We appreciate you! πŸ’™

Deanna Faimon is an amazing Fiber Artist. Deanna's mother taught her to sew, and she started out with practical projects like making clothes.

Her interest in art bloomed in school leading to a year studying at the Kansas City Art Institute and another year studying with local artists at Doane College in Crete, NE.

Deanna loves traditional quilting and still makes those type of quilts, but Fabric Collage/art quilts is where her passion has taken root. Portraiture has always been a favorite subject of hers but, she also loves to recreate images of animals as well as everyday objects that have been placed in nature and either abandoned or left to their own.

Her works are created by fusing and gluing small bits of fabric in place on canvas. The process of layering materials in unusual and nonconforming ways, actually feeling the texture of the fabrics, fibers, and embellishments is an exciting and fun process that is freeing and feeds Deanna’s soul. Once the image is complete, it is layered (with batting and backing) and stitched into place then finished with elements ranging from torn and frayed fabric to ribbon, beads, copper wire, paint or anything that will add texture and/or a sculptural element to the work.
