On this day in 1964, the Brigadier General Don F. Pratt Museum re-opened at a new location on Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The facility was a culmination of a year-long effort led by BG Patrick Cassidy and his Museum Advisory Council. This was the museum's second location. The third and current location is at Wickham Hall, outside of which is a placard that explains where the museum has been located on post. Later this year, we are excited about moving into our fourth location on Fort Campbell Blvd as the new "Wings of Liberty Museum."

Long before the 101st arrived in 1956, Camp Campbell was originally created in 1942 to train Armored Divisions for the European Theater of World War 2. Made from real barracks wood, this exhibit gives you a hint of what it was like to live in the "bachelor city" of Camp Campbell in the 1940s. There is only one WW2-era barracks still standing at Fort Campbell today, Building 723.

William C. Lee, who was an active part bringing Airborne tactics to the U.S. Army and who became the first Commanding General of the 101st Airborne Division, said that the Division had "a rendezvous with destiny," which became one of the mottos of the 101st Airborne Division. His bronzed boots are part of the collection of the Pratt Museum.
