June is the perfect time to visit the Tennessee Wings of Liberty Museum. It’s only fitting that the very first exhibit you see honors the Screaming Eagles who spearheaded the Normandy Invasion exactly 82 years ago this month.

Following the initial D-Day landings in June 1944, the 101st Airborne Division pushed through intense, month-long combat, securing pivotal victories at the Battle of Carentan and Bloody Gulch. They were finally relieved on 8 July 1944.

Despite suffering heavy casualties, the Soldiers of the 101st accomplished their critical strategic mission, cementing the Division's first Rendezvous with Destiny.

Happy Birthday to the U.S. Army! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Today, June 14th, we salute 251 years of the brave men and women who have defended our nation since 1775. It is a special double celebration, as we also recognize Flag Day, honoring the very Stars and Stripes they fight for. Join the Fort Campbell Historical Foundation in celebrating both. A special salute to the Soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division, 5th Special Forces Group, and 160th SOAR for carrying the torch of liberty.
