Hometown Teams Forsyth Forsyth, GA is hosting "Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America,” the Smithsonian’s traveling exhibition from its On Main Street program. 6/10-7/22/17.

Baseball. Soccer. Hockey. Bowling. Kickball. Surfing. People around the country are drawn to compete in these sports and many others. Still more gather on the sidelines to cheer for their favorite athletes and teams. Nowhere do Americans more intimately connect to sports than in their hometowns. Next summer, June 10 - July 22, 2017, Forsyth, GA will host “Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America,”

a traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street program — a national/state/local partnership to bring exhibitions and programs to rural cultural organizations. In addition to the Smithsonian's displays, Forsyth & its surrounding cities will add their own collection of hometown sports memorabilia for viewing. The exhibit will be on display at the Conley Building at the Train Depot, but Forsyth will also host a number of related events leading up to and during the time of the exhibit. Please contact us if you would like to volunteer to help with fundraising, events, etc., or if you have memorabilia you think may be appropriate for the local display.
