Parichy pitcher bloomed in the
1947 season
Gwen Wong was a left-handed pitcher for the Parichy Bloomer Girls baseball team in the summer of 1947. The stadium, located at the northwest corner of Harlem and Harrison, was part of the All-American Girls Baseball League and also featured a great restaurant and Emery Parichy’s museum of baseball memorabilia.
Wong, a second-generation Chinese American, was a fierce pitcher. In her only season, she faced 282 batters in 22 games. She pitched six no-hit games, 10 one-hit games and six two-hit games. League records give her 14 wins. After winning the National Girls League Championship with the Bloomer Girls, she retired her glove and went on to University of California Berkeley where she followed her true calling — to become a minister in the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.

Video of some past champs. Since 2011 only Tito's 45s, Flashback, and Signature/Windy City have won the SSA major title... any predictions for this year? Any different team? Best of luck to all the teams in both Labor Day events.

Thanks Jackie Ivanelli and the Forest Park staff giving our president Ron Kubicki to throw out the first pitch of the title game.

Check out host Andrea Darlas interviewing George Bliss this morning on WCPT 820 - Chicago's Progressive Talk talking about 16 Inch Softball and this Sunday's 25th Anniversary celebration! https://www.wcpt820.com

Found this interesting last night in Scottsdale League. Using a golf ball size Wiffleball to practice before full team shows up. The theory is get swings in - if you can hit this you will easily hit Clincher. Plus you don’t have Go far to pick up.

Wow. Fun interview with HOFer Dennis Gardner and his Dad. These guys were Mudville guys! Not Geo Era Mudville but from 40 years ago. The things you learn.

The 22nd Annual Hall of Fame Dinner will be kicking off soon. There is still time to come on out and join us.
