Today, we remember the sacrifices made by the men & women of this great country. Memorial Day was originally known as "Decoration Day," the holiday began in 1868 to honor fallen Civil War soldiers by decorating their graves with flowers and flags. After World War I, it was expanded to commemorate American service members who lost their lives in all conflicts. National Moment of Remembrance: At 3:00 p.m. local time on Memorial Day, Americans are encouraged to pause for a minute of silence to remember and reflect on the sacrifices made by the fallen. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
