and museum dedicated to connecting people to the
rural past.

Dakota City Heritage Village offers visitors the chance to experience rural life in Dakota County in the late 1800s and early 1900s. A recreated historic village and museum, Dakota City is located on the Dakota County Fairgrounds on the south edge of Farmington. Dakota City's five-acre site includes 22 buildings that help to tell the story of life in a 1900 rural town. Dakota City offers special e

vents throughout the year where visitors will experience living history firsthand with costumed interpreters and demonstrations. The Village and Museum are also open for school and youth programs, tours, and the Dakota County Fair.

Our Junior Apprentice Camp is for children age 6 to 12. They will experience life in the 1900s by visiting many of the buildings in the Village. Some activities include learning lessons in a country school, helping with gardening and other household chores, and doing some of the crafts of the time.
Camp options are:
June 22-25, 2026, 9 am -3 pm
July 13-16, 2026, 9 am -3 pm

The Try-it Hands on Camp is for children age 5-9 and will be held June 17 from 9am – 3 pm at the village on the Dakota County Fair grounds.

At Dakota City's MA Camp, children age 13 & up are immersed in village history & life in the early 1900s with hands-on experience using historic equipment & artifacts. To enhance learning we will have more focused hands-on time in the school, blacksmith, print shop, millinery, carpentry shop & general store.

This years Camp will be held June 8-11, from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Visit dakotacity.org for more info or to register. The Camp is titled: "MasterApprentice Camp."

The IMCA Old Timers & Dakota City Heritage Village Swap Meet & Vintage Sale is TODAY, May 9th. Join Us! The Drug Store is open for refreshments and shops open with vintage wares for sale. The Swap Meet and Car Show are buzzing with activity.
