Farmington Historical Society Monthly Meeting - Oct 16th, 6PM, North Church

Good Morning folks,

I just wanted to send out a quick reminder about our monthly meeting and program to be held Monday October 26th at the North Church, 118 High St. in Farmington.

As usual, our potluck begins at 6pm, followed at 7pm. by a short business meeting, with our presentation to follow.
Join us for this month's program presented by S. Clyde Ross as he shares with us history and stories of the Farmington Fire Dept.

Come for the potluck, or just for the meeting and program, whichever fits your schedule, but do come. And bring a friend.

Benefit Dinner at the North Church - Nov. 14th - 4-6PM

As some of you may know, Marion (Toosie) and Steve Scharoun recently lost their son Joe after a long battle with illness.

Many folks have asked what we, as part of their community, can do to help.

So, here is an answer to that question:

The Farmington Historical Society and Farmington Grange #12 are collaborating to host a benefit fundraising dinner to help defray the great personal expenses of travel the Scharouns have experienced over these past many months.

The dinner will be held on Saturday November 14th from 4-6pm at the North Church hall at 118 High Street in Farmington.

A pasta bake meal and coffee, tea, c***r will be provided, contributions of a side dish or dessert to share are welcomed.

The cost at the door is $5 per person, $15/family.

A donation jar will be available.

***If you are unable to attend, you can still make a donation by sending a check noting Benefit to either;

Stop by to see what is new in the barn.

The shop will also be open on July 4th from 9am. Come by while you wait for the parade to start.

‘Octagon Barn Treasure Trove’ is opening Friday June 26th, from 10am until 2pm.

The idea began with discussions regarding the Annual Yard Sale held over Labor Day weekend, which eventually morphed into an exciting idea. We would open a small shop in the barn of the Octagon House. It will only be open when the Octagon is open for visitors, Fridays from 10am until 2pm. The hope is that visitors, and regular downtown walkers will take a moment and see what treasure is in the store that week. Items will vary from week to week, giving potential shoppers a variety of temptations.

So stop by and check out the weekly selections.

All sales go to the upkeep of the Farmington Historical Society’s buildings.
