Farmersville Heritage Museum Joins Countywide America 250 Museum Patch Quest

The Farmersville Heritage Museum is proud to join eight other Collin County museums in celebrating America’s 250th anniversary through the Collin County Museum Patch Quest, a countywide program launching June 2026, while supplies last.

Initiated by Chestnut Square Historic Village and developed in partnership with museums across the county, the program invites guests ages 5 to 99 to visit participating museums and collect limited edition commemorative patches, each uniquely designed to reflect the spirit, history, and identity of its museum while honoring the America 250 theme.

At Farmersville Heritage Museum, visitors can earn their patch by completing a museum scavenger hunt centered on the history of Farmersville. Guests will answer questions using clues found throughout the museum, making it a fun and interactive way to discover the people, places, and stories of Farmersville. All answers can be found within the museum.

For Farmersville Heritage Museum, participating in the America 250 Patch Quest is about more than collecting keepsakes. It is an opportunity to connect people of all ages with the local stories that help tell America’s story. As our nation approaches its 250th birthday, preserving and sharing the courage, sacrifice, perseverance, and everyday lives of those who built communities like Farmersville reminds us that patriotism begins close to home. Through history, we honor the past, strengthen community, and inspire future generations to carry these stories forward.

Join us Saturday, June 20th in Downtown Farmersville for Audie Murphy Day, a cherished community tradition honoring courage, sacrifice, service, and the legacy of one of America’s greatest heroes. Whether you come for the parade, veterans tributes, or to stand together in remembrance, this is a day to celebrate the spirit of service and honor those who have served our nation.

The day begins with a special opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. in Downtown Farmersville, setting the tone for Audie Murphy Day through moments of remembrance, reflection, and tradition.

As part of the morning ceremony, we are honored to introduce a special new experience, the Path of Remembrance: A White Carnation Tribute.

Created in honor of America 250 and in remembrance of all who have served our nation, this community tribute invites guests to participate in a shared act of gratitude at Freedom Plaza.
A limited number of 250 white carnations will be available, symbolizing America’s 250th anniversary.

Guests are invited to place a white carnation at Freedom Plaza, creating a growing Path of Remembrance, a collective tribute honoring service, sacrifice, and those who helped preserve the freedoms we cherish.

As each flower is laid, a shared expression of remembrance and gratitude will emerge, reflecting our community’s appreciation for those who have served.

We invite the community to be part of this first-ever tribute during Audie Murphy Day in Downtown Farmersville. It’s a special opportunity to pause, reflect, and honor service together.

Happy Thursday Farmersville & Followers! Today we pull out some Rike files and go through some clippings dated back to 1969.

Remember the last time Farmersville even shared in a district football championship? If you do, you're 10 years older than you were then. Graphic evidence of how times change can be seen in these two photographs. The first photo shows the 1959 team, coached by Jimmy Hess, now at Rice University, in the dressing room on the night it beat Honey Grove 30-0 to win a share of the old District 13A title. Philip Holt, now the all-winning coach at Honey Grove, is shown by arrow.
He caught seven touchdown passes that season as the Farmers posted a 7-3 record (Cooper won a three-way coin toss to go into bi-district.

In the next photo, made the same year, Farmersville Cub Scouts who were only seven or eight years old at the time comprise a good part of the '69 team which could win the District 15A title here tomorrow night against Pilot Point.
The Cubs who are now players are identified by their present jersey numbers: Scott Highsmith (15), Robert Aycock (55), Randy Clark (12), and Tony Douglas (76).
