Fannin Battleground will be closed on New Years Day. We will reopen on January 2nd for regular hours!

Fannin Battleground will be closed December 24th and 25th for Christmas. The site will reopen for regular hours on December 26th!

Fannin Battleground SHS and Presidio La Bahia SHS will be closed this Thursday November 27 2025.

We will resume regular businees hours on Friday November 28th!

If you have been by Fannin Battleground in the last few weeks you have seen work being done to the picnic pavilion. This structure was getting some much needed TLC to reestablish its 1938 architectural features. Presidio La Bahía State Historic Site Complex Staff and Volunteers replaced rotted wood and removed extra molding profiles with the correct cypress, and repainted the whole structure with pant that matched the original color scheme both inside and out. This structure has been preserved for many more years of celebrations!

Lego Fannin has been working up some new fireworks, but our safety officials have declined his request for a night time cannon firing with live cannister rounds from the bastions.

So we will be open regular hours every day this weekend at all of our complex sites!

Fannin Battleground and the Zaragoza Birthplace will be open 8am-5pm.
Presidio La Bahia will be open 10am-5pm with last admission to the museum at 4:30pm, closing at 5pm.

Hope everyone travels safe and stops by the most fought over fort in Texas this weekend!

If you have been outside in south Texas today you know the weather rock is wet, and that means it is raining.

As of Noon today Thursday June 12th Presidio La Bahia, the Zaragoza Birthplace, and Fannin Battleground will be closed due to flickering power, localized flooding of the grounds, and to ensure the safety of both our visitors and our staff.

We will monitor the weather and conditions and update if we see any further closures.
