I was recently selected as one of 10 Pennsylvania artists to participate in a great weekend at PSU to debut a Penns Woods themed composition. This will be on display in the arboretum art garden throughout the summer and is open to the public free of charge..

The weekend forcast may be calling for cool and wet weather but it’s it just became a bit muggy at our shop . We just received a new delivery of our own cool woodgrain mugs which we are giving away this weekend with each carving purchase while supplies last. The lighthouse is a symbol of both guidance and refuge along maritime journeys. From a distance, its prominence is usually identified with contrasting height among other shoreline objects making it the most visible structure. We have taken the opportunity to carve (100% Chainsaw) this composition at one of our events as spectators watched development from a raw log and have titled it “High Hope”. Additional features include a waterline incorporated into the base along with a dinghy boat at bottom of rock staircase. It has been meticulously airbrush detailed and includes a coat of sealer for your lasting enjoyment. This carving is not only a great piece of art but provides the symbolism of the hope and faith we have throughout life’s continually changing circumstances.

Navigating the highway of life can often be difficult for a young person and watching these struggles unfold can be just as difficult for a parent as their child becomes a responsible adult. We therefore titled this composition “Tough Love” which features a mother bear giving a paw swat at her younger cub bear while preparing it for the many challenges of life which lie ahead. The pierced relief backrest design affords a unique perspective while being flanked by organic looking rock sides. Our “Functional Art” bench can be enjoyed for both it’s artistic value and usefulness.

“Good Things Come To Those Who Wait” and the patience of a blue heron rarely leads to disappointment. It’s intuitive stealth and determination is almost always the pathway to a prized catch along the bank of a pond, lake, or river. This animated carving composition captures that moment of which the heron has become confidently hypnotized by it’s next meal. The cattails and reed grass create a nice backdrop setting while also affording the carving additional structural integrity. Final Detailing includes the addition of subtle airbrush coloring for an organically balanced look. This is one of those pieces of art which you really would love to keep for yourself but know it would be a greater addition to someone’s garden pond or lake house.

As heralds of the sun, roosters represent awakening, honesty, and bravery. However, if you are not a morning person, this composition may ruffle some feathers. We took a little break from carving other critters to do something a little fun and different. One look at this animated big fella and there’s no denying that he speaks with absolute authority. We exercised extra effort to create iridescent feather detail to also convey his confident Goliath attitude. This would make the perfect addition to your farmhouse porch or chicken yard.

Sawptician Mercantile…….Mother’s Day Porch Sale

Our shop construction still has a ways to go but we brought carvings out of our event trailer and currently displaying some of our latest chainsaw carving inventory under the shop porch. Come and choose a true one- of- a -kind gift for mom made right here in our hometown of Lake Winola. From functional art furniture to small cardinal birds, and everything in between, we have something for nearly every budget.
