Finnish Heritage Museum

Finnish Heritage Museum Finnish culture and artifacts museum FHM is comprised of dedicated volunteers, all of whom have some Finnish ancestry and/or connection.

Our members meet monthly to discuss museum business and plan for future events. In just a very short time, we have successfully arrived at a point which says, "we are here, we are serious, and we are active."

🇫🇮 Have you heard of Dr. Amy Agnes Kaukonen? She was an amazing woman who was elected as mayor of Fairport Harbor, Ohio in 1921 making her not only one of the first female mayors in the country, but the first in the state of Ohio.
This brilliant powerhouse was also valedictorian of her high school class in Conneaut, Ohio and a graduate of the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania.
She set up her medical practice in Fairport Harbor in 1920 just prior to her election as mayor.
