On this day, Campbell Soundstage aired “Life Sentence” starring James Dean, Georgann Johnson, and Nicholas Saunders. Only a seven-minute clip survives from this episode. Jimmy adeptly oscillates from sympathetic to psychotic in his role as an escaped convict.

On this day, Kraft Television Theatre aired “Keep Our Honor Bright” starring James Dean, Michael Higgins, and Joan Potter. This complex melodrama can easily be seen as a thinly disguised metaphor for the McCarthy hearings. Jimmy only has two scenes but they are powerful ones and he is the lynchpin that the rest of the drama revolves around.

On this day, Danger aired “Padlocks” starring James Dean, Mildred Dunnock, and David Hardison. Jimmy is at his surly best in this little half-hour drama. This is a prime example of one actor feeding off the other to deliver their best performances.
