The Civil War Interpretive Center is OPEN Tuesday- Saturday, 11-3. A free, guided tour of the first floor of the Historic Blenheim house and grounds is available at 1 pm Tuesday - Saturday. lbert Willcoxon - is known for its exceptional collection of Union soldiers' Civil War graffiti. To date, over 110 of these soldiers, hailing from 7 states, have been indentified. The Civil War Interpretive Center illustrates the lives of the Union soldiers who came through the house, as well as the effect of war in Fairfax. A life scale reproduction of the inaccessible attic, showcasing many of the best signatures, is a highlight of the gallery. Historic Blenheim offers several programs with a Civil War focus throughout the year. Our premier program is Civil War Day, a living history event, annually held the last Saturday in April. Group tours for students, scouts and adults are available by advanced reservation - please call (703) 591-6728 for more details. The modern Interpretive Center is available for rental. There’s still time to sign up for our program at the Civil War Interpretive Center on Saturday. Reserve your spot and step into the soundscape of early America.

Music is one the best ways to step into the past and understand what life was like for people long ago.

As we commemorate the 250th anniversary of America’s independence, join us for a hands-on program exploring early American music and the instruments that brought it to life. Early American music specialist David Hildebrand will share a variety of colonial-era instruments, explain their stories, perform live, and invite participants to try a few for themselves.

Join us at the Civil War Interpretive Center this Saturday, July 11 as Historian Ric Murphy discusses his new book, "Forgotten Patriots of the Northern Theatre", which brings to the light the inspiring but overlooked heroes of the Revolutionary War’s northern campaigns: American men, women, and children of African and Indigenous descent who served in the Continental Army and local militias.

The book highlights the stories of individual soldiers whose sacrifices were critical to the American cause but were left out of traditional histories. Ric Murphy is an award-winning author, educator, historian, documentarian and genealogist whose work focuses on African American genealogy, early American history, and historical commemoration.

The talk will take place at the Civil War Interpretive Center at 3610 Blenheim Blvd.

Historic Blenheim will be closed June 29 - July 8. The city is renovating the lobby of the modern Civil War Interpretive Center building. The grounds remain open, including goat viewing, and house tours will resume after renovations are completed.
