Our displays begin with the Revolutionary War, and continue through the Spanish-American War, both World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, the Cold War, Operations DESERT STORM, ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM and Military Operations Other Than War (MOOTW) such as Grenada and Panama. All ranks and branches of the service are represented - you'll have the opportunity to see artifacts belonging to privates a

nd generals alike, as well as relics from the opposing side in each conflict. For those interested in World War II, one of our prized artifacts on display is an actual piece of the battleship USS Arizona, generously donated by the United States Navy. The next time you're in Fairborn, stop by and join us in remembering those who have served in defense of liberty - a place where our veterans are welcomed and honored!

Most people are familiar with the working dogs used in the military, but let's not forget the four-legged friends who help our disabled veterans - Bob1 found this at a local yard sale and purchased it for MVMHM. Thanks, Bob!

At last weeks Greene County Flag Day /250th event Harold put us in touch with a woman who wanted to find a good home for her father's WWII artifacts; yesterday Mark made the short drive to Xenia to pick them up. Technician 4th Class Jack H. Newhouse served as a surgical technician in a field hospital under the 9th Army through France, Belgium and Germany. His notes indicate he stayed in two of Herman Goring's hunting lodges, and took part in the liberation of a concentration camp. Thanks, Diana!

We'd previously received some of Private Ruttle's World War I artifacts; Matthew called to say they located his campaign hat so our Curator picked it up last night. The box was in pretty bad shape and the family pondered throwing it away...but, although not a perfect restoration, it didn't come out too bad. Thanks, Matthew!

Our Curator contacted Cindy to purchase a WWII Home Front fan she had listed on Marketplace; when she saw that it was for MVMHM, she and her husband decided to donate it AND to bring it to us from Delaware, Ohio. They stopped in today and Bill also brought us a WWII bazooka training rocket and a steel 40mm Bofors casing - thanks for your generosity Cindy and Bill!!
