Wax mannequins brought fashion to life in early department stores. Many times they were modeled after real people, and made with glass eyes, human hair, and lifelike teeth! Now these vintage mannequins bring the past to life at the Fountainhead Museum and give us a chance to see and connect with the culture, fashions, and people of the past.

We are excited to announce our soft opening was July 13, 2026! For the rest of this summer we are officially open from 12pm-4pm, 7 days a week!

We know there are a lot of Fairbanks visitors out there who are making a once in a lifetime trip to Alaska and we want to make sure they get an opportunity to see our museum before they go. To make this happen we are doing this soft opening, which means we are still a work in progress. We are still actively building out our clothing displays, getting exhibits set, and continuing construction of the new addition. However, we have been able to progress to the point that we are happy and proud to display our collection so our visitors don't miss their chance to see the Fountainhead Museum!

We already have so many incredible new displays on the floor, featuring planes, stunning cars that arrived just this month, and plenty of new fashion! We’re making improvements every day, so keep coming back to follow along and see what’s new.

Please see the illustrated map for parking and guidance to our temporary main entrance, and please be conscientious of construction equipment and workers.
