๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ•น๏ธ GEEK CON PANEL SPOTLIGHT! ๐Ÿ•น๏ธ๐ŸŽฎ

Ever wonder where the video game industry really began? ๐Ÿ‘€

Join Lenochod Productions at 3:30 PM for:
๐Ÿ“บ Television Games: Ralph Baer, Fort Wayne, and the Birth of the Video Game Industry

Long before PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo, inventor Ralph Baer had an idea: What if you could play games on your television?

In 1966, Baer began developing that idea, eventually leading to the creation of the Magnavox Odysseyโ€”the first home video game consoleโ€”in 1972. And here's the cool part: much of the development and production happened right here in Indiana, just a few hours north in Fort Wayne! ๐Ÿคฏ

This panel explores Baer's relationship with Magnavox, the development of the โ€œBrown Box,โ€ and the fascinating history behind Magnavox's decision to enforce Baer's copyright in the landmark Sanders v. Atari case.

๐ŸŽฎ Come for the games. Stay for the history.

And that's just ONE of the things happening at the 10th Annual Evansville Museum Geek Con!

About 500 Miles to Go

Step into the history of one of America's most iconic sporting events. 500 Miles to Go explores the milestones, unforgettable moments, and legendary figures that have helped make the Indianapolis 500 a beloved American tradition.
Held at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which dates back to 1909 and hosted its first race in 1911, the Indianapolis 500 has captivated generations of drivers and fans.

Through a selection of artifacts, stories, and historical highlights, the exhibition brings the race's enduring legacy to life and explores its place in American culture.
The exhibition is included with general Museum admission and is on view through August 23, 2026.
