Saturday’s opening reception for In Their Gardens of Good and Evil, a two-person exhibition, and Fifteen Years in an Instant, Perspective Gallery’s anniversary celebration featuring hanging instant prints from our members and former members. In The Seventh Year, artist Susan Isaacson draws inspiration from the Jewish tradition in which every seventh year marks a sabbatical for the land—a time of rest, renewal, and regeneration. In striking contrast, artist Katsy Johnson presents Evil Flowers, her modern take of floral representations of the Seven Deadly Sins. Johnson transforms botanical arrangements into dark meditations on human vice. Together, these two bodies of work invite viewers into a “garden” where nature becomes both sanctuary and snare, reflecting our capacity for renewal as well as our ongoing struggle with temptation.
