The Morris Graves Museum of Art welcomes in families to participate in 𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙: 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙𝙬𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙮 on Saturday, September 26!

The MGMA Scavenger Hunt will give families clues that encourage exploration of the MGMA, our galleries and outdoor sculpture garden, with a focus on engaging children in the visual arts and the exhibitions at the museum. Children and families are invited to participate in this event by picking up their scavenger hunt at the front desk on Saturday!

“Play is a powerful experience that enriches people’s lives in museums, schools, homes, and beyond,” states Arthur G. Affleck, III, executive director of the Association of Children’s Museums. “ACM is pleased to partner with Nickelodeon on amplifying the importance of play on wellbeing and healthy brain development, and to make learning more effective and joyful for everyone. As children’s museums, we believe in the power of play and strive to nurture more play and playful learning everywhere we go.”

Come out to the MGMA for SoniX at The Graves, a unique and immersive sound experience on the evening of Sunday, September 13th from 7-8:30pm!

In collaboration with the wonderful acoustics of the historic Carnegie Library that now holds the Morris Graves Museum of Art, the group SoniX will play original compositions and arrangements by Brian Post and Ryan Ehresman. These pieces are mostly written for an electronic and acoustic blend of instruments, creating a unique interplay of sounds.

SoniX is an unusual instrumental group made up of nine talented local musicians playing an eclectic array of instruments including Brian Post on piano, bass, and percussion, Garrick Woods on Cello, John Wood on piano and melodica, Michael “MJ” Fabian on steel drum and accordion, Colby Beers on tabla and percussion, Ryan Ehresman on Eurorack synthesizer, Paul Stewart on electric bass, Gary Lewis on flute and saxophone, and Ginny Ryder on English Horn. Also incorporated will be nature recordings of the Amazon jungle at dawn, Prairie Creek, Brown Creek, and Pacific tree frogs recorded locally!

All of the local sounds were recorded by Brian Post to be used in this and other performances.

Tickets are $15 at the door. Don’t miss this one of a kind performance!
