The captured moment in the main figure is Moses at the conclusion of his earthly life, atop of Mount Nebo, reflecting on his Life of Miracles. Portions of his life-story is depicted in small sculptures surrounding the main figure. The expression on his face is that of contentment and longing to be with God after years of communing with Him, but always desiring more ("Show me your glory" Exodus 33:18)

I have been studying the life of Moses since my youth. It’s a story every student of the Bible/Torah knows something about. And the lessons from his stories never cease.
I have long desired to create a sculpture of Moses. When the director of the Camporee, Pastor Ron Whitehead invited me to consider such a sculpture, I began to ponder what to focus on, what to include and exclude. It was not an easy choice.
Moses spent many days and hours directly communing with God. At one point he pleaded to see God’s face with no barrier or veil (Show me your glory). Such a request reminds me of how precious our loved ones are to us, and how important it is to see their face. That’s where Moses was in his relationship with God, and at the end of his life on Mount Nebo, one thing he desired above all else; to be with and to see God face to face, I chose that moment to be the primary point of the composition.

Michelangelo’s best known sculptures are the David, the Pieta and the Moses. The Moses is by far the best known three-dimensional depiction of this significant biblical figure. To the best of my knowledge, no sculptor had ever memorialized the specific event in this new sculpture. Historically, most depictions of Moses focus on the Ten Commandments event.

By choosing this point of his life, it allowed me to focus on one of the most precious aspects of his story; his intimate connection with God that grew over the span of his 120 years. And it also made it possible to depict portions of his life chronologically in small scenes surrounding the main figure.

Even though this sculpture is only 3/4 life-size, it is a major work in that it is comprised of seven full compositions, each with dynamic movements, interesting drapery, full of emotions and details.

I really wanted to create a strong work that not only tells a story, but invites the viewers to reflect on the vastness of this Godly man’s miraculous life and his contributions.

The first five books of the Bible that are attributed to Moses combined with the four Gospels provide answers to all of humanity’s questions: origins, wisdom, history, law, health, and meaning or purpose. It’s difficult to over-estimate the vast power and value of this man’s life. All, because he humbly accepted God’s call to be of service to others.

So many changes, and I'm so behind with updates. The short version is this: The Old Church Shops in Estes, home of my Living Bronze Gallery was sold recently, and all tenants have been moving out as the buidling undergoes significant changes.

It has been my great pleasure to be part of the Estes Park Community since 2005. During those years I met so many wonderful people, and gained new collectors and sculpture enthusiasts from around the country.

Our door were closed permanently this past spring, and all the inventory was moved to my new place in Brighton, CO. More on that later.

I expect to keep this page going for a while, and will be updating it with new work and new developments.

Thank you all for your wonderful support and interest.

I first envisioned my monument “Power of Thought” in 2007. It took several years to bring it to full fruition. It has been shown at a couple of events, and promoted to my relatively small patron list. Once understood, the sculpture became powerful and inspiring to nearly everyone who spent a few minutes contemplating the overall concept and the details that flesh it out.

I am pleased to announce that I finally have my dream website, dedicated exclusively for this sculpture. I invite you to visit www.bronzepowerofthought.com, peruse the headlines and delve into the vast information this sculpture embodies. And then let a friend know, share far and wide as we celebrate the incredible power of thought, and the vast accomplishments of humankind over the millennia.

I hasten to acknowledge that not all thoughts produce desirable outcomes as history has painfully taught us, which points us to a most foundational principle: good character (some define it as “God-fearing”) is an essential guardian on this amazing journey.
