Surest sign of approaching fall… getting our projects buttoned up for cooler temps. Thanks to JB Sash & Door for all their support with this complex window package. Can’t wait to see these Marvin windows in at 5 Kings Way.

Good morning from Pigeon Cove.
At The Long View, the main living space opens directly onto the deck and the water beyond. A tension-wire railing keeps the edge light and transparent, preserving the sightline and letting the view do the work.
Nearly finished, and just as we imagined it.

Flowing from the kitchen, the Carpenter's Colonial addition includes this light filled and cozy living area.

Exposed wood beams adds rustic character and warmth, balancing the new construction with the home's colonial roots.

When our clients said they wanted beer on tap in their kitchen, we didn't blink. We just started designing. Into the Brew is what happens when a house actually fits the people living in it: rugged finishes, built-in taps, and a space that takes their hobbies as seriously as they do.

Classic form, modern function. These bifold patio doors in our Formal Farmhouse project were chosen for their ability to create an expansive, seamless opening between the great room and the outdoors. Paired with an integrated retractable screen, it's a perfect example of how traditional aesthetics can be enhanced with contemporary convenience.

A seamless indoor-outdoor flow, just in time for Fourth of July gatherings.

Essex doesn't need fireworks to feel festive this weekend, just a marsh sunset, a line at Woodman's, and the particular happiness of a Cape Ann summer day.

We put together our summer Essex insider's guide: where to eat, wander, shop, and slow down. Long weekend, well spent.

We are so honored to be nominated in five categories for Best of North Shore Home.

Last year, your votes helped us win Reader’s Choice Green Architect, and it was a huge boost to our small business after 10 years of hard work, growth, and plenty of figuring it out as we go.

Red Barn has always been built one project, one relationship, and one leap of faith at a time. We are so grateful to our clients, collaborators, and community for continuing to cheer us on.

If you have a moment to vote, it would mean so much. You can find us in 5 categories in the "Blueprint" section.

Framing the view was the easy part.

With a landscape like this, the work is really about knowing when to step back. A simple threshold, a quiet porch, and the coast doing what it does best.

Not every principal signs off on concrete pours… but ours does.

A new custom home is underway in Manchester-by-the-Sea. Hands-on from the ground up.

Sometimes the most important design work happens before a property is even purchased.

For this coastal transformation, we worked with the client ahead of their offer to understand the site’s potential, from setbacks and coastal conditions to neighbor's view corridors and expansion opportunities.

Now in concept design, the vision is coming into focus: a home shaped for gathering, recreation, and long days outside, with the Atlantic as the backdrop and Boston on the horizon when the sky is clear.

This phase is about more than planning spaces. It is about defining how a place can support the life imagined there.
